mangino is really sweet. i don't really care about societies, but i think it's ridicoulous the rumpus and annonymous losers of ivyblog try to rip mangino. he's an amazing ydn editor and a really nice guy.

Societies churn out 15 people each per year, and the vast majority go on to be pretty successful. Hate to break to you, but if you're scared these people might run shit 30 years from now, you should be pretty paranoid right now as well, not to mention questioning the last two hundred years. What exactly do these societies do anymore? What is the point, in this day and age other than ritual and carrying on tradition. I'm a part of greek life at my school, and although we say we're not just a social organization (read org that provides free booze), and do a lot of community work, theres really no point to having societies, fraternities, sororities or any of the like since students who are going to grow up to become great really don't need the support of secret cult-like groups while they are undergrads.

Whether or not Skull and Bones is underhanded now (who knows?), it has a questionable history, which is reason enough for some to reject it. As for reasons to reject the others, some do it because of a lack of time, others because they aren't really interested in making a few new friends senior year.
