Brown Students Deprived of Hummus, Pabst as Tropical Storm Approached
On Friday afternoon, in preparation for what was supposed to be the catastrophic arrival of Hurricane Irene, Brown’s Office of Residential Life distributed a series of warnings to new and returning students, many of whom were about to arrive on campus for the start of orientation activities. Perhaps the most remarkable item was a bullet point concerning Saturday’s planned distribution of emergency food supplies:
During the day on Saturday, please ensure that you stop and pick up an emergency food pack which contains water and provisions, Dining Facilities will be CLOSED on Sunday August 28th during the storm.
