Those 2013 campaigners have produced two of the least substantive, most why-I-chose-Yale (that can be an adjective now, right?) campaign videos EVAR. Insiders tell us that when Jake Shuster first saw Jonathon Youshaei’s well-produced video, he became “visibly emotional.” Forthwith, an analysis!
Jonathon Youshaei (click for video) at least knows how to create a meme — the bizarrely memorable “Re-Elect Youshaei” features a guest spot from Larry King — not actually a joke, does anyone know how this happened?? — as well as a Vanilla Ice-esque rapper from Penn, which is good, because Jon’s flow is a little lacking. “Without Jon, the Class Board would be lackin’,” the young white rapper — Asher Roth, is that you? — says. But isn’t that kind of the opposite of how the Class Board feels?
Jake Shuster‘s horrifying, painful “Shake With Jake” features no CNN personalities, but it does have karaoke performed by cafeteria workers! Um, too bad they can’t vote, I guess! Seriously, this gives some credence to the whispers we’re hearing that Jake has nothing to campaign on but bashing Youshaei — which doesn’t exactly make for a good YouTube video — and the fact that his name rhymes with “shake.”
Also, since when do campaigns have to have YouTube videos? We really do blame Aleksey Vayner.
