Meet the New Boss[es]: Daniel D’Addario
Hi Ivy League students! By way of introduction, I’m Daniel D’Addario, your new IvyGate editor, along with the very talented Alex Klein, whose intro is forthcoming – and succeeding the very successful Adam Clark Estes, in whose footsteps we’re both thrilled to follow. You may remember me from the long-running telenovela 3 or 4 Things I Know About Her Bangles.
I’m pleased to bring my sensibility to IvyGate – I’m used to writing about either arts or politics (or both at once!), so writing about academia – and the weird stuff college students do – has so far been a big, and welcome, change. I’m an American studies and English double major, which means that I once wrote an academic paper comparing (my favorite movie) Boogie Nights and (not my favorite books) the novels of Horatio Alger.
That kind of sensibility won’t be exposed on IvyGate, don’t worry.
Alex, Adam, and I recently met for dinner and drinks in New York to discuss the future of the site. We ended up in Brooklyn at five a.m., and all I remember talking about is Tila Tequila’s Twitter. So obviously, it’s going to be a lot of fun. We hope you stick with us – keep sending us tips, keep pitching us ideas, and keep reading!
Tomorrow might be slow for me because I’m spending the day at a taping of The Wendy Williams Show – what opportunities New York gives the Columbia student! — but I swear on my sacred honor as an IvyGate editor, we read every single tip we get. And only make fun of email addresses if they’re @aol. Thanks again for reading our humble college blog! We’re just trying to tell the same story Alger did. As he said: “No period of my life has been one of such unmixed happiness as the four years which have been spent within college walls.”
