A Peek Inside the Skull & Bones Tomb
Here’s a (kind of boring) look inside of Skull & Bones. Layered with a Requiem-for-a-Dream-like dramatic soundtrack, this video tracks some iPhone-toting legionnaire venturing into the basement and courtyard of Yale’s oldest secret society. Unfortunately, the hypersecretive society doesn’t have too many skeletons in their closet. They do have a couple of barbecue grills, some windy stone stairs, lots of dust, and a coffin. That part is actually kind of cool. Any chance Gdub once slept there?
For the record, this may or may not be the Tomb. It looks like Yale with all those pointed arches and stuff. But we were really hoping to see Geronimo’s skull.

The relevant part is towards the end. Search “Dauphin”

They own a freakin’ island in the St. Lawrence River and they can’t do better than those crap green plastic fake Adirondack chairs that come from Wal*Mart?

Seriously? There must be some logical explanation rather than Skull and Bones taking revenge on the kid who filmed their backyard and grill space. But honestly, I don’t see one. This seems like the beginning of some indie horror film ala Blair Witch Project. Please tell me it is? I am getting scared.

Kinda thought this article was going to redeem Brice. Alas.
1) The linked YDN article tells you everything you need to know about “Dauphin.” The kid was a creeper with issues who, independently of his fixation with Skull and Bones, made death threats and was asked to leave, as any student would. This is definitely his video…
2) …And it’s a video of nothing. The empty Skull and Bones tower and yard are easily accessible to anyone with the balls to climb and jump the back wall. The coffin is creepy, granted, but he obviously didn’t get INSIDE the tomb as the article deceptively stated, just inside the outer wall.
3) Does some simple death’s head imagery and a few successful graduates really produce this kind of vaunted mystery? Like all other societies, Skull and Bones functions for dinner, bios and presentations. If you’re really that amped up about what’s inside, the Manuscripts and Archives library has the blueprints on hand in the very obviously titled “Russell Trust Association” file. Knock yerselves out.

That video was really disappointing.

This post is tagged as “investigative journalism.” But the video itself is over two years old. Also, recorded in 2007, it’s impossible that it could have been made with an iPhone. So, nothing resembling journalism took place here — the editors of IvyGate, lazy as usual, simply did a YouTube search for “skull & bones videoz” and posted the first result. Suck.
