Officials Say Annie Le was Strangled to Death
In the latest update into the case of Annie Le, the Yale graduate student whose body was discovered in the basement of Yale Medical School, officials have confirmed that Le was strangled to death:
According to a spokeswoman for Connecticut’s Chief Medical Examiner, Wayne Carver, Ms. Le died from 'traumatic asphyxia,' caused by 'neck compression.'
This is a reversal from the statement issued yesterday by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, which instead of releasing the cause of Le's death, stated
it would withhold that information indefinitely at the request of prosecutors. At the press conference, Lewis declined to comment on a report in The Hartford Courant that said Le died of asphyxiation.
This admission seems to suggest that the case is proceeding quickly, and is closer to identifying the perpetrator.

Wait… wait… where’s the punchline?
September 17th, 2009 at 11:39 am
Anyone have any idea what nytimes was getting at ending their two-page coverage with:
“Conor Reardon, 23, who was on the team with Mr. Clark [Annie Le's killer], said that he and other teammates got Mr. Clark to succumb to a baseball rite of passage, chewing tobacco.
“But the next day, he came to school late because it had made him so sick that when he got out of his car that night he could barely stand up,” Mr. Reardon said, adding that Mr. Clark “ended up falling asleep in the bathtub in his baseball uniform after taking a shower fully clothed.””

I also read that and thought it was strange. My theory was that it humanizes Clark, who hasn’t been convicted yet, while also suggesting that he may be a few cards short of a deck. That or the article was just rushed.

I’m glad CU’11 pointed out the nytimes article because I also found that odd. However I smell a rat here and it’s not Clark or his test animals… he is just too perfect a patsy for this crime and I wonder if he is being set up. Perhaps he got into a fight with someone to get those bruises as part of the cover-up. I mean, who is to say something more sinister didn’t happen and the Keystone NH cops aren’t looking the other way to speed along their heroic resolution. Seriously, “dude got upset and snapped” is too simple.
