Penn Alum Tells the Truth about New York, His Feelings for Asians Too
Penn grad DJ Lubel '05 popped back into the spotlight this weekend with his video about the Ivy League swill in Murray Hill. The video references to "Jew geography" and Lehman Bros emeriti in that elevated piece of Manhattan in the 30s on the East Side. Cool, but it's worth watching for the dood-bros mooning the camera in front of the stretch Hummer at Joshua Tree.
The song's audio has actually been floating around the Internet since last year or so. NYMag nailed it when they summed up the point:
We all go to temple but we worship the dough
We've got more Japs than all of Tokyo
Pour me a Grey Goose and Red Bull
As I take this Adderal pill
Tonight I'm blacking out up on Murray Hill
Watch Lubel sing about (not) having sex with Asians and how much he loves Rick Moranis after the jump.
Lubel is also a 2005 laureatte of the most elitist film festival that won't get you famous: the Ivy League Film Festival. Since that 28-minute comedy about social misfits in New York, DJ (who is in fact not a DJ, just named DJ) has made a couple more YouTube virals. Nothing full length, but he does talk about not getting laid by Asians, the other half of Mixed Company's "Single Asians."
Like his mom said to the Times back in 2005:
''We knew he'd never make it as an investment banker,'' she said. ''D.J. has a gentle way of laughing at life's absurdities, and we have always encouraged him to embrace his quirkiness -- and his passion.''
And we miss you too, Rick Moranis. You'd be perfect to play either Chris or Nick in the upcoming IvyGate biopic.

Funny stuff. Another instance of the New York cult, but what else is new.

Dartmouth (my alma mater) hosted a famous anti-apartheid rally. Dartmouth’s great, but realizing it’s the 2nd best undergraduate Ivy, after my original dream school – Princeton.

I can’t even describe how crappy the Penn dude’s interpretation of the West Side Story snapping scene is.
