David Horowitz Takes Aim at “Brown Daily Herald,” and Brown Generally

A few Ragtimes ago, I posted a story from the Brown Daily Herald about David Horowitz's visit to celebrate "Islamofacism Awareness Week." What's "Islamofasicsm Awareness Week," you ask? Apparently, it's a week where Horowitz goes around college campuses warning students about radical Islam. This year, Horowitz went to Brown, a school he was all but banned from in 2001 when he authored an ad in the Daily Herald called "10 Reasons Why Reparations for Slavery Is a Bad Idea and Racist Too." But gone are the days when Horowitz would pen batshit propaganda for the Herald. "Horowitz Lambastes Islam in Near-Empty MacMillan," the Herald's unflattering writeup of Horowitz's talk, drew the conservative thinker's anger.
In a 2,000 word article (Brown really pissed this guy off), Horowitz addresses the problems conservative thinkers encounter when speaking on college campuses:
Far greater is the problem presented by the generally hostile environment a conservative normally encounters on any campus. This includes destruction of flyers advertising one's event, failure of the campus newspaper to publicize it and failure of professors to recommend or even require student attendance as they regularly do for radical speakers.
Wait, I was supposed to go to all of those out-of-class lectures? No wonder I didn't get honors. After the jump, find out why Horowitz has no love for the Brownies.
Horowitz has two major gripes with the Herald article: Its contention that the auditorium was "near-empty" and its reporting Horowitz said Brown has "one of the worst faculties in the United States." Gripe No. 1 stated:
This was the half-truth. The reason for the poor attendance was that the event had been scheduled on the night of the 6th game of the playoffs between the Boston Red Sox (the "home team" for New England) and the Tampa Bay Rays.
And Gripe No. 2:
I went over the details of incident with my reparations ad and the trashing of the Herald by student leftists, and the support for this attack on a free press by the 60 Brown faculty members who signed the letter defending the destruction of the newspaper. I then said that these professors had the mentality of communists and totalitarians. Since there were sixty of them supporting the attack on a free press I did say that I thought Brown had the worst faculty – the most overtly political and anti-democratic – in the country.
So the audtitorium actually was "near empty," but there's a good reason (the playoffs!). And Horowitz did actually say Brown has the worst faculty in the country, but they do. I'm glad Horowitz set the record straight.

Try again, David. Witness the respectful response Sen. Santorum received when he came to campus. Look at the untouched, unvandalized advertising for Mike Huckabee’s visit next week. Sure Brown’s a liberal school, but they’re for the most part respectful to conservative speakers… except you.

I want to see the reparations ad (and I just did! Thanks Google). I don’t see what the big deal is, besides the fact that he, you know, actually paid to take out the ad. Does anyone actually think that slave reparations are a good idea? :(
This guy sounds like a douche, though.

I don’t know this man, but if I were still a student, I would most certainly prioritize other things. He sounds more like a rabblerouser than a “conservative” (a term which I am quickly losing my ability to define…I thought that conservative modified the noun that follows it. Is this Horowitz a conservative Zionist, or what?)

@boop, you’d be surprised – obviously haven’t been drinking enough kool-aid.
