(Another) Yalie Makes a Music Video
Last week, my co-editor Robyn waxed on about the awesomeness of Alexander Dominitz's "95 Theses," a parody (and a marked improvement on) Jay-Z's "99 Problems". This week I bring you Max Lanman's "Brangelina", a tongue-in-cheek commentary on the rising popularity of celebrity adoptions.
According to the Yale Daily News, Lanman - who is a junior at Yale - read an story entitled "Brangelina" in People, and it "amused Lanman so much that he was compelled to write a song, and after that, direct a music video." The music video has catchy backing beats, high production values, and features copious amounts of semi-disturbing pelvic thrusts.
Is "Brangelina" better than "95 Theses"? Yalies, readers: weigh in!

Wow. that was hilarious. I want to know who the guy was singing falsetto. amazing. But honestly, 95 Theses was so much better.

re Anonymous:
Did that facebook group mention they were in it for breast-feeding and “subbing in” for Brad Pitt in the bedroom?

he’s not insulting brangelina, he’s talking about 95 theses

Generally, I think it’s pretty obvious that Brangelina is way funnier and the song is better. 95 is clever, but not funny, and its production is more impressive. But I would like to point out that they spent a few thousand dollars on it, and almost an entire year…according to their website.

As I said to Max in the JE dining hall tonight, Brangelina is hella delicious…and definitely funnier than 95. Great work with the “Uh no” shot of Brad Pitt. And yes, Chris Ripley ‘10 is responsible for the cinematography on both films. In fact, I think Brangelina is his first time operating a Steadicam. Awesome job.

I just don’t see it. Too repetitive, but a good concept.

this is way better than 95 theses in terms of bringing the funny.
