“Noble Freedom Warriors”: Columbia Libertarians to Protest Fed Res Tomorrow

Of all nutty student activists, libertarians are by far my favorite. They're like an ideological parody of the Ivy League, whatwith the ruthless individualism, brute competition, and strict adherence to ECON101. They also have the most awesomely grandiose rhetoric on their side, for which we now turn to the Columbia College Libertarians, who have an exciting protest planned for tomorrow:

Noble Freedom Warriors,

Our second meeting of the year will be Monday (tomorrow) at 9:00 PM in 315 Hamilton. We will be elaborating on plans for the year and voting on a change to the club's constitution, followed by the regular discussion.

Also, if any of you are free in the afternoon, there will be a protest at the NY Federal Reserve at 4:45 PM.  Email us ASAP if you plan on attending.  The press will be there.  I'll include the details at the end of the email.

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Protest details — including costume requirements, as described by some guy named "Dallas Moorhead" — after the jump.

NYC Liberty Activists,

As some of you are aware, I am putting together a little PR Stunt/ Protest at the Federal Reserve on Monday at 5pm. We are printing up Monopoly Money dollars w/ Ben Bernanke's face on it and handing them out to the public outside of the Federal Reserve. We'll all be wearing business suits ( black preferably) and carrying brief cases full of Bernanke Dollars. I plan on sending out press releases and calling into radio stations to get some exposure.

With the financial melt-down in full swing, we have an opportunity to get a lot of press and exposure.

I would like to get together on Sunday night to prepare for the event. Plan on making a few signs and helping with the printing of the dollars/flyers. If you aren't available to participate but still want to help, I need someone to do the following
? We need someone to design a back to the dollar that has the following

The Federal Reserve is a private bank
The Federal Reserve has never been audited

The Federal Reserve prints money out of thin air
The Federal Reserve destroys your savings
The Federal Reserve uses your savings to bail out corporations

The Federal Reserve caused the financial crises

The U.S dollar is as valuable as a Monopoly money

Here is what the paper will look like.

We also need 2 people to video tape and take pictures - if you have a video camera and want to participate, please let me know

When: Monday @ 4:45
Where: The park east of the Federal Reserve
What to bring: Black Suit and a Brief Case

This will only work if there are at least 10 -15 people involved. If there aren't enough RSVP's we'll delay it a few days till we can gather a crowd.

RSVP asap so we can find an appropriate place to meet on Sunday and so we can print enough materials.

Don't hesitate to call me

And for you college students: BRING YOUR GROUPS WITH YOU!

I can assure you that with enough people and some manipulation we can get HUGE press for the cause

Honestly, Columbia idealists will protest anything. They’re like sheep dogs you can sic on whatever irks you.

Also, I miss the old site design. This one has WAY too much white space…

  2. Glen Q. Says:

They call themselves ‘Freedom Warriors’? Shit I hate my school sometimes. More often then I ever expected I would.

  3. projected27th Says:

When will Columbia students learn that small fringe protests do nothing but make you look like a buffoon?

  4. james Says:

WOW…. for those of you trying to discredit these students for what they are doing really shows how ignorant you are. That bank (A PRIVATE BANK) just bailed out all of its member banks with $700 billion of your money….haha it just makes me laugh inside when i see how stupid people can be. I just want to smack all of you in the face with a wet hand.
