One Last Bonesmen Bash
We didn't want you to go on summer break without first knowing which Yalies got into those fantabulous secret societies! Like, your entire summer would be ruined! Sure, that first Skull and Bones list we posted was a total fake-out (only one correct name in the end!) - but who really cared? Here are the society lists, forealz.
We wish these kids the best. As long as the new members of Scroll and Key and Skull and Bones and Wolf's Head don't paint their theses with the blood of aborted fetuses, or make giant swastikas out of snow, or construct giant penises out of Christmas lights, or have enormous flame-wars with their gay lovers on our comment boards, or go to war in Iraq because they're "deciders," they're fine by us.
After the jump: the not-so-secret society lists in full.

May 5th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
there are girls in the senior societies at yale? lame.

The bones and keys lists are spot on. half of the wolfshead list is incorrect.

Mangino is not in bones, hes with the other douchebags in keys, which is for tools.
May 6th, 2008 at 1:10 am
Bones is 100% correct. wolfs head is wrong. I don’t know about keys
May 6th, 2008 at 1:12 am
mangino is really sweet. i don’t really care about societies, but i think it’s ridicoulous the rumpus and annonymous losers of ivyblog try to rip mangino. he’s an amazing ydn editor and a really nice guy.
May 6th, 2008 at 1:29 am
um, except for one post about mangino maybe liking hillary clinton – which we later halfheartedly apologized for – we haven’t bashed mangino at all. seems like a nice guy.
May 6th, 2008 at 8:49 am
Wolf’s Head is wrong. One or more people on the list are in other societies.
May 6th, 2008 at 9:26 am
The lists are close, but not right, but I won’t tell you where because I’m awesome and know the REAL secrets of Yale!
Newsflash: nobody gives a shit about how much you know about which societies tapped whom.
May 6th, 2008 at 9:42 am
way to be totally late on this, ivygate. this email was sent over a week ago and you JUST NOW picked it up? old news
May 6th, 2008 at 10:03 am
jacob savage,
aren’t you just a little too familiar with the hall and the vine to be whining about secret societies and elitism. some people are just naturally better than other people and you need to learn to accept that. it’s how god and moses planned it after they finished battling ghidorah, the three headed monster.
May 6th, 2008 at 12:56 pm
yup. we’re tools and douches. but guess what, we get shitloads of money.

May 6th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
hey what about the cornell secret societies?
May 6th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
cornell is a whiny bitch, nobody gives a damn about you!
May 6th, 2008 at 5:43 pm
Wolf’s Head is definitely wrong – I know someone who’s in it but who isn’t on that list. What would have been a more interesting/amusing story was the “YDN email” that included these names.

May 7th, 2008 at 6:17 am
does it scare anyone that, for a number of reasons, some of people on these lists might end up running shit in whatever’s left of this country in 35 years or so? cause based on the track records of certain Yalie society alumni, it scares the hell out of me. I guess I just distrust Yalies in general… but can you blame me?
May 7th, 2008 at 7:26 am
rosie avila, that b****, got into the Wolf’s Head? how the f*** did she get it?
May 7th, 2008 at 11:34 am
I can, actually. By “certain Yalie society alumni,” you clearly mean HW and W. That’s two people, the latter of which wouldn’t have even gotten in if not for his legacy status and wouldn’t have stayed in if not for gentlemen’s Cs. Societies churn out 15 people each per year, and the vast majority go on to be pretty successful. Hate to break to you, but if you’re scared these people might run shit 30 years from now, you should be pretty paranoid right now as well, not to mention questioning the last two hundred years. This isn’t a new pattern, by any means.

Mangino isnt in Bones, but Bones tapped him and he turned them down. He took the Keys tap instead.

Mangino isnt in Bones, but Bones tapped him and he turned them down. He took the Keys tap instead.
May 8th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
i guess just like last year’s bone rejector, Naima Costa, Mangino actually has some integrity. bones is tied to some of the premier war mongerers of our time, he was right to reject them.
May 11th, 2008 at 1:45 pm
What exactly do these societies do anymore? What is the point, in this day and age other than ritual and carrying on tradition. I’m a part of greek life at my school, and although we say we’re not just a social organization (read org that provides free booze), and do a lot of community work, theres really no point to having societies, fraternities, sororities or any of the like since students who are going to grow up to become great really don’t need the support of secret cult-like groups while they are undergrads.
May 11th, 2008 at 2:58 pm
That’s the thing, though. The societies aren’t really about making their members great. It’s a misconception that they are. They are about the bonding that comes when 15 people spend so much time together and share all their secrets. Honestly, they shouldn’t be unique to Yale, if they are.
May 12th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
if they’re not doing anything underhanded then why do some people actually REJECT them? and it’s always the people who seem the most well-adjusted, self-possessed, and full of integrity who do so…
May 12th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Sorry, rubberducky. Meant to say all the societies except Skull and Bones. Whether or not Skull and Bones is underhanded now (who knows?), it has a questionable history, which is reason enough for some to reject it. As for reasons to reject the others, some do it because of a lack of time, others because they aren’t really interested in making a few new friends senior year.
May 12th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
As stated above, Andrew Mangino was tapped for both Bones and Keys. He accepted Keys and rejected Bones.
May 13th, 2008 at 6:28 pm
People reject them for OTHER secret socities. It’s a preference thing, like rejecting Yale to go to Harvard or vice versa or whatever. Even the most vehement society haters, if offered a top by the big guns, will abruptly feel differently and accept. Seen it happen. As for Bones being “underhanded,” that’s not truth anymore. It used to be, sure, but so did the Catholic Church. You just sound bitter.
May 15th, 2008 at 3:30 am
umm…the Catholic Church is STILL underhanded. LOL. You sound like one of the wankers in these societies defending it. Fact is not everyone who objects to them and is offered a tap “abruptly feels differently and accepts.” I rejected them three years ago and so did other people I know and no, not for other societies. We did it for something else: integrity.
May 15th, 2008 at 6:16 pm
Aren’t we being a bit self-congratulatory here? So do you consider yourself “most well-adjusted, self-possessed, and full of integrity” because you turned down a Bones tap? How can this be? After all, Yale’s history is strewn with racism and sexism, and yet you chose to attend! America’s history is full of shameful underhandedness, and yet you identify yourself as an American! How can you condemn that which you know nothing about? As I recall, there were three people who rejected Bones that year – two went to other societies, and one decided to take the fall semester off. She didn’t have grandiose illusions about her decision or its implication on her character. I understand your ego was hurt and you like telling everyone that you rejected them, not vice versa, but jeez! Get over it! It’s been three years.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
LOL! Ah, spoken like a true Bones shill! You’re obviously upset because you know deep down I’m right. And yes Yale’s history (and this country’s history) is not pretty either but secret societies – and THIS hideous one in particular – are much worse. I didn’t want to be a part of an elitist, pretentious organization that is connected to the premier war-mongerers of our time. Or one whose older members, just a few years ago, went ape shit because the new crop featured women. And they took that ridiculous issue all the way to the Superior Court too! Absurd! And then I’d have to sit there at functions and kiss those members’ asses? I think not. I may not be the most “well adjusted, self possessed and full of integrity” person, but I’m not a sellout like some of you. And you’ll never admit it but that’s ok because I know – and you know – that deep down I am right. And that drives you nuts. That people like me (and there are some of us) had the dignity to reject something you couldn’t bend over backwards fast enough to get into. So go ahead with your claims that the society has changed and your “token taps.” It doesn’t erase everything S&B stands for.
May 15th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
I am neither upset nor a member of Bones. A bit bored, maybe (after all, I am responding to a fake flamebait… twice!) There is nothing “deep down” about your superficial assessment of the society system or your opinions about Bones. In fact, we use the WFB anecdote all the time to lure potential Bones taps to our group. I just wanted to hand out a reality check – turning down a Bones tap doesn’t make you a hero. I also wanted to clarify for everyone on Ivygate that you were never offered an election to Bones, as per my previous comment. So stop bullshitting. I suspect you are the gay ex-lover of that other gay dude who was in Bones this year, but let’s not go there again. What an embarrassing fiasco for Bones, Yale, gays in general, and the thief himself!
May 15th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Oh, and just to clarify, my first post on this issue was at 6:16 PM on May 15. The first “@rubberducky” post is not mine. I know there are people who turn down society taps for various reasons. You aren’t one of them though.
P.S. Who said anything about token taps?
May 15th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
You’re all traitorious rothschildists; sub humans dedicated to the defiling and emasculation of democracies, of america, and everything good america fraudulently claimed it represented. Traitorious rothschildists underwrote america’s birth and their house of rothschild in the same year 1776. Aren’t you more inclined to believe they’re all rothschildists rather than skull and bones and what ever other jagoff names these and the piece of shit masons and illuminatti that have contributed to the mass extinction of the planet call themselves. The rothschildists are king killers, sacked king george and forced him to raise taxes on the colonies, rothschilds fathered adolf hitler and sacked the queen of england with the rockefellers financial support, and if their history proves to be the case the next major conquest in their Messianic quest to sack the empires games would be america. They created Israel and a financed a whole new murderous brand or sect of Judaism. Personally I don’t believe america exists, I believe america is a fabrication of the media and bankers and y’all are the rothschildists evil mass murdering toys for their own personal kingdom on earth. When you look for the truth this version is reality, the country america is the biggest fraud this planet will ever know.
May 16th, 2008 at 4:16 pm
Please. You don’t know me or my history but it’s ok. I don’t have to justify myself to you. I was tapped and I turned them down years ago. The bruhaha over those two “gay dudes” as you call them is actually not the most embarrassing thing one can say about S&B which is why I don’t care to address it. (And no I’m not connected to either one of them, but nice try) More insidious to me is a group connected to the greatest war mongerers of our time, a group that was historically involved in power grabbing, stealing, threatening anyone who dared to speak Truth to Power, and any number of other hideous practices. Here’s a link to an interview conducted by the esteemed Amy Goodman on this topic back in 2004 when Bones had BOTH Bush and Kerry vying for the Presidency. Note how the author of the book revealing secrets of the society talks about being threatened in her career and about how Bonesmen didn’t care whether Bush or Kerry won, it was a win-win for them either way. And these people claim to be liberal intellectuals nowadays and not connected to these evil men in the past? Please.

There is nothing worse than being at Yale where nothing is offensive and wrong. When I was coming up the ranks of real left-wing thinking the only acceptable concepts were the abolition of private property and the inevitability of dialectical materialism. Bones, being the perfect foil, was a forbidding bastion of monied conservatism, completely absorbed with its own fabulosity. Apparently, at present it is not even worth fire bombing, being merely a silly club where smarmy political correctness reigns supreme. How terribly sad.
May 17th, 2008 at 4:53 pm

“Apparently, at present it is not even worth fire bombing, being merely a silly club where smarmy political correctness reigns supreme. How terribly sad.”
LMAO! So true sixtes commie. And he smarmy political correctness is is full force as evidenced by the staggering number of token taps each year. If you’re gay, a person of color, HIV positive, left handed and ugly at Yale, you have a good chance of being tapped!
May 17th, 2008 at 7:02 pm
well I’m not going to spend more time defending bones. In your previous post you mentioned that you turned them down three years ago. I happen to know everyone who made such decision three years ago, and you are not them. Are you going back on your word? “years ago?” nm. Either way you are a delusional and sad individual.
May 17th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Why even spend so much time defending a club you claim not to be a part of?? And you sure do know a lot for someone who’s not in bones. Yeah right…try again dude. (I’m guessing you’re one of the token taps right? LOL. You guys get so testy whenever people point out the OBVIOUS. A historically racist, sexist, homophobic and classist club suddenly accepts all these gays, minorities and women and you don’t think everyone else will see this for the pandering and posturing it really is? You should hear the way everyone else talks about the non-whites, non-male and non-straight members of bones. You guys are a fucking joke to real liberals, and some of the biggest sell outs around! LOL!)

Haha. Well its true – I happen to fill three or four quotas easily. Minority, musician, athlete, and most importantly, a conservative! I have no impetus to appease the campus liberals, and that includes you. Whatever dude. Bones tends to tap LAME, but they won’t stoop so low as to consider someone like you. Which is why, as per my previous posts, I call bullshit on you. Societies, the elitists they are, tend to form an insular community and information about tap tends to leak within that community, often because multiple groups are going after the same people. That’s how I know, not because I was in bones. As I said before, I have no intention of defending bones. They are lame. But you are far worse – a self-righteous, insecure liar!
May 18th, 2008 at 3:14 pm

UH OH! Sounds like the Bonesmen are planning an attack on Ivygate! LOL! Watch out everyone!! (Oh wait, but they’re probably already here. Like that guy pretending to be a conservative who doesn’t care about Bones yet he defends them so staunchly. Ah, a Trojan horse attack!)
May 18th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
I’m gay and a sell out (I opted for soap operas instead of real acting gigs) – I’m PERFECT for Skull and Bones! Tap me! Tap me!
May 18th, 2008 at 11:54 pm
you know it may be more fun to discuss the relevance of s&b as an important facet of yale’s social culture than to engage in so much catty gossip as appears above. for example, what about the association makes it so interesting in the first place? its symbol, for one, means a lot more than i think most people consider. Death always wins. Life always gets a chance, but in time, death overcomes it (reminds me of a quote from an old bonesman “time is life’s enemy”). May this be one reason why bonesmen tend to be the most competitive people on campus? Also, no one can know what happens on the other side of death. it is exclusive to those who have crossed over. perhaps this explains why it is such a popular group on campus. i mean let’s face facts, yale’s social climate is PERFECT for any perpetuation of exclusivity. this is a great forum to talk about this group, but to be benefitted from the blog, why not aim for a more n.p.r. tone of conversation. right now it just sounds like “talk soup” with pms.
May 19th, 2008 at 4:25 am
no offense thinkmore but only an idiot or someone really naive would think that Bonesmen are the most “competitive people” on campus and that S&B has anything profound to say about life and death. Read Yeats if you’re interested in life and death. S&B is a hideous organization once populated by vile, conservative war mongerers and now populated by lame social climbers, token minorities, and pseudo liberals who really want to be part of the power structure and elite they feel excluded from, rather than challenging or dismantling those power structures (which is how you know their liberalism is merely lip service). Why not read the links posted above to see what this disgusting organization is really about?
May 19th, 2008 at 4:31 am
Oh and btw, “Time is life’s enemy” is hardly a profound quote. It’s about as obvious and corny as saying, “With great power comes great responsibility” or “Love is a many splendored thing” or “You can stand under my umbrella…ella…ella…a…a…a”
May 19th, 2008 at 8:01 am
Ok. You are right. I’m in Bones and I think I’m better than you because of it. The end.
May 19th, 2008 at 11:44 am
you people suck
May 19th, 2008 at 5:59 pm
@rubberducky, you guys really believe this. that’s the part that’s really pathetic. you have no idea what people on campus say about all of you. how bones is just lame now because they only tap p.c. tokens like yourself. you’re not better than anybody. you’re just better at deluding yourselves. you guys are the joke of the yale campus and have been for at least ten years now.
May 19th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
harsh. i bet after reading your message and conferring its truth, they’ll close down the organization for good.
May 19th, 2008 at 7:07 pm
moonpie is right. bones is a joke and the people they tap each year are (for the most part) unyieldingly dull, pretentious and uncool.
May 19th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
that’s just, like, your opinion, man.
May 19th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Bones would be a lot more interesting if they went back to tapping rick white conservative fucktards instead of tapping a bunch of pussies who not-so-secretly want everything the rich white conservatives fucktards have.
May 19th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
i completely agree. where are those guys now? their tomb seems to have been raided by those with no link to the society’s original profile. if they were conservative, they did a shitty job of conserving themselves!
May 19th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
But these new taps are even worse. At least everyone knew what to expect from the rich white conservative pricks. But minorities and fake liberals who secretly want to be just like the rich white conservative pricks? That’s even worse! It’s like the wolf coming to your house dressed as grandma, you know? Bones is like the Republican party and these new “token taps” (as they are being called now) are like Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell. Both the GOP and Bones can say, “See? We’re not so bad. We’re including colored folk who want nothing more than to be just like massuh!” Progress indeed.
May 19th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
Oh and just to be fair, let’s not only rag on the people of color and the gays in Bones (though I’m sure the previous year’s group is real embarrassed now after tapping that douche who’s been all over Ivygate and Gawker and then posted his ex’s social security number online. What a fucking joke of a tap! That’s what happens when you try to fill quotas. Gay and Mexican? Yeah…and fucking CRAZY too! LMAO! I’m sure they weren’t expecting the bag of crap he brought with him. Bones deserves to eat that kind of shit. It could have only been better if they had also tapped the abortion chick, that fag who got outed doing porn, and that guy with the guns! That would have been sweet) – but yeah, let’s not forget about the women in Bones, since the big Bones controversy years ago was admitting non-dicks into their dicky organization. Rachel Sam? Emily Morell?? Haruko Catsro??? Easha Anand??? These are some grade A CUNTS, let me tell you. Seriously. These girls are some of the cuntiest cunts that ever cunted a cunt. Step forward for women? HA! What a joke. No wonder the rest of the world is laughing.
May 20th, 2008 at 1:38 am
even worse, the gay dude (victor cazares) apparently blabbed a bunch of society secrets to his then lover (which the equally unhinged ex has posted previously on ivygate and others places, revealing these delicious titbits). so yeah, i bet bones is real proud of that tap now. LOL!
May 20th, 2008 at 5:21 pm
You’re way off. Easha is one of the best people at Yale.
May 20th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
new requirements for bones taps:
Anglo Saxon
Protestant
Handlebar Moustache
Straight (at least outside of the tomb)
Offspring of American millionaire or foriegn royalty
Whales embroidered on pants
At least one genealogically proven instance of inbreeding to preserve blood lines
Add your own…

May 21st, 2008 at 4:08 pm
oh and to aryan prince, if you look at most of these names, you’d realize that ugly seems to be the new requisite for a Bones tap (with few exceptions of course) gone are the days of pretty boy bonesman and welcome to the days of fat, ugly, retarded looking social rejects — Easha Anand, Noah P Hood, Francisco Vieyra, Victor Cazares, Kensho Watanabe, Emily Morrell, Haruko Castro, Andrew Law…my god, could these people BE any physically less appealing?
May 21st, 2008 at 6:52 pm
now this is just getting creepy. someone should shut down comments.

to try to shut people up when their society is being trashed or exposed. LOL! you idiots have been named in rumpus, on ivygate and everywhere else and you know what? we’re not gonna forget it. when you guys go on to become whatever you plan on becoming (journalists, politicians, artists etc.) people like me will be there to remind you and everyone else that you were (and still are) part of this power hungry, war mongering organization. wherever you go and whatever you do, we will be there to point it out and undermine you credibility, and never ever EVER let you or anyone forget that this is who you guys REALLY are. so enjoy it now…because it will be with you forever.

I deeply regret having to put my two cents in, but now I can’t resist. Societies at Yale mean practically nothing in the world at large. They are forums in which small groups of students come together during their last year of school and attempt the project of really getting to know 14 or 15 other strangers, a kind of nostalgic do-over of their freshman year entryways. At the end of the year, each group of students picks another group of students. The selection process involves little to no input from actual adults, so it is largely arbitrary. In the more democratic societies (those that avoid direct tapping), there is usually some group discussion of excellence on campus, vividness of personality, strength of character – but even these criteria are vague, and the outcome is piecemeal. Only 1 of the 4 Rhodes scholars from my year was in a prominent society. Almost all of my friends who are now studying at Harvard and Yale law schools were untapped their senior years. One of Bones’ biggest secrets: one of their alumni works at Pepe’s, the pizzeria in Wooster Square. The experience is meant for the members alone during that one year, and it is not always a pleasant one. There are fights and repetitive debates, members that don’t take the project seriously and members that take it way too seriously. And then it’s
over with the rest of your college career. The connections you’ve made are likely to serve you as well as those from any other extracurricular activity, if not less, simply because of the radical diversity of interests within each group. That said, diversity of interests is perhaps the only thing keeping these institutions even remotely relevant right now. That is, the women and minorities that make up at least half of all tapped juniors are essential, because to imagine a modern institution that represents “excellence” and excludes these groups is impossible. It has not always been “cool” to join a society. In fact, a simple lack of coolness is one reason that they became “secret.” Before the 1960s, tap lists were published in the YDN or the New York Times (as well as some hometown newspapers of the inductees). Quite expectedly, during the 60s, the groups were deemed too “establishment” to survive, so those who were still willing to join started staying quiet about their membership. Only in the early
90s, when the oldest groups finally let women in, did the reason for their existence become somewhat
understandable again. For the rest of the history, you can all go read Alexandra Robbins. For this thread, it is obvious how deeply bitter some people have become about these groups, but it does not justify calling individual people (ostensibly your fellow students, although I doubt that many of these commenters actually go to Yale) cunts and fags. In case anyone is wondering, Victor Cazares is in Bones because he is a brilliant playwright (his work has been produced at the Yale School of Drama) and an unavoidable personality in the cultural community on campus. I personally don’t give a shit who he sleeps with, and I doubt that the class above him did either. Easha, Andrew, Haruko, Rachel, Emily, etc have all done similarly impressive things on campus, and most importantly, they haven’t wasted their time obsessing over what other people think of them and whether or not they would be tapped (incidentally, campaigning for a tap is a sure-fire way to be shut out). They took full advantage of the Yale experience, and it showed. Learn a lesson, you self-hating dipshits.

So you’re either Victor himself or one of the above names you mentioned, or just a past or present member of Bones trying to cover up your society’s secrets. Curiously, you posted this long defense at the exact moment that Victor Cazares’ AIM and Facebook status showed that he was online. And after the post, he went offline. Go ahead telling yourself you’re “brilliant” dude, I’m sure other people will believe it the more you say it. Is that why you dropped out of school this semester? To work on your “brilliant” scripts and post people’s SSNs online? LOL!
And ok, most of the names I know nothing about (and I certainly wouldn’t use the C word for any girl) but I still say Andrew Law is kind of an ass. But not just because of Bones. He was an ass before that too.
And hey, since you know so much about Bones and the people in it and spent SO much energy defending it, I think we can dispense with the mystery of whether you are in fact a Bonesman. So answer this: if the class above was so impressed with Victor, how did they feel after he dragged your society through the press and blabbed its secrets to his loony ex? Yeah, a real prize winner, that one. If the rumors are true, said loony ex has already signed a book deal which means any and all of this will be published. Can’t wait to read it!
(And I don’t know Easha personally but I have actually heard wonderful things about her from other people, and I think she is very lovely to look at. If anything I feel bad for her that she’s mixed up in this sordid group!)

oh and I totally forgot about the part where Victor threatened Akash with RAPE and BEATINGS right here on Ivygate! Again, what a great example for your group!

In order to avoid the bullshit above, at Cornell the new members of the real societies are printed in the Sun in the ads.

more attempts by Bonesmen to distract everyone from the truth.

so things got a little crazy here since posted, like, halfway up the page.
check this out: institutionalized exclusivity is awesome. I go to Dartmouth, I should know. Keep up the good work, keeping out those who aren’t cool. Fuck yeah. Also, Yale sucks, go Big Green, fuck everyone and anyone with ambitions, and for God’s sake, get off IvyGate.
