Guy Named Wang Arrested for Stealing Panties

Guy Named Wang Arrested for Stealing PantiesBeing a female at Penn has never been harder. On top of your average undergrad milieu of date rape and roofies, the ladies of Phila also have to worry about wife-killing professors, penis-wagging cops, and now, panty-sniffing stalkers.

Penn ‘08 Diexia Wang is out on a $200,000 bail for stalking half a dozen undergrad ladies and running off with their underpants and “high-end purses,” the latter of which is slightly baffling since we assume lady-stalking means he is straight? Maybe Mr. Wang needed the designer accoutrements for toting around his growing coterie of stolen a-cooter-ments.

De Wang’s Panty Party came to its dramatic end when Mr. Wang snuck into the room of a female resident of Harold C. Meyer Hall using a stolen dorm key (which is legitimately creepy, so I’ll refrain from using a pun for a second). The victim’s roommate probably received the shock of her life upon witnessing a strange male enter the room with a key (and maybe a Louis Vuitton purse in the crook of his arm), and called the cops. Wang was charged with burglary, criminal trespassing, harassment, stalking, and theft.

News coverage of Wang-gate is worth watching, if only to witness the effect of anchorman gravitas on the word “panties.” As for commentary, we think the blonde who giggled and rolled her eyes at the camera said it best:

Ohmigod. That is SO. WEIRD. …I’m glad I live NOT on campus. [emphasis hers; capitalized rendering ours]

Excuse me, I have to go padlock my top dresser drawer, now.

you spelled Mayer wrong. and everyone calls it Stouffer-Mayer

  2. Comments penn senior Says:

Actually, you’re wrong. All the upperclassmen I know who live in Mayer call it Mayer.

  3. Comments Penn 07 Says:

    We just called it Stouffer.

    penn10 seems to have her/his panties in a twist…

Watching this video made me feel much better about my poor speaking skills. “I’m glad I live… not in a dorm.” “Something like that, it could lead to bigger instances.” I’m glad to see that I’m not alone in my ineloquence :)

  5. Comments Penn '08 Says:

    Stouffer.

  6. Comments Penn10 Says:

Mayer and Stouffer are different buildings. The stalking/underwear stealing happened in Mayer.

    people just call it mayer.
and poor guy…i think the girls must’ve been exaggerating.

    College online for good ideas.

Wang was released when his parents paid 10% of the 200k bail. (Watch the video). Also, the roommate didn’t witness Wang enter, she walked in on him when he was in the dorm room, and he said he was waiting for friends. Also, the issue is that he broke into someone’s room. I bet most of the people making fun of his panty fetish are enthusiasts themselves. Personally, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it— I mean, if they had been a gift or something.

Courtney Comstock: Ohmigod, that’s so weird. That’s so crazy. I don’t know what… I would do. I’m glad I live… not in a dorm (cunty laughter)

You have to watch the video –

And as for the girl (on the video) who says she leaves her door unlocked? Is she nuts? First of all, there’s “college kid” behavior and there’s “city college kid” behavior; second of all, clearly locking the door would not have helped this situation.

P.S. Felix is his name stateside and he’s a sweet dude. I remember hearing stories about him from his freshman cohabiters.

P.P.S. No one would care about this if he were not Asian. A black kid did this when I was at Penn and he even videotaped his target. This wasn’t reported until he committed suicide, at which point the whole story came out. Asians like Felix (rightfully?) are getting tagged as Cho Seungs. What a nuanced stereotype, eh? (Btw, I base all this race talk on how high his bail was). I also know that Penn didn’t do shit to keep this from coming out.

The following details about Diexia Wang (’Felix’) are true. I lived with him for a few weeks at the beginning of freshman year (the above post references me) until his chronic masturbating motivated me to move out. I also agree that if he weren’t Asian the bail would not have been so high, but I also don’t really care. Felix was pretty strange even back then. I figured he would be weird when, on the first night of NSO (with 6 days before classes even started), I asked him if he wanted to go to a party, and which he declined because he “had to study.” He used his bath towel as a bed sheet, which I later realized (and I’ll omit the details of how I realized this) he used as his cum rag, as well. I wish I were clever enough to make this stuff up, but unfortunately it actually happened.

  12. Comments Bob Says:

His actual name is Dyslexia Wang, and what he was trying to steal was high-end pussies.

  13. Comments Oh those were the days... Says:

Black Elvis and I switched rooms after those fateful few weeks (at which point I knew nothing of his ::ahem:: “chronic” masturbation). To say he was a weird is probably a little bit of an understatement. He spent almost every waking moment in the dorm room playing (I kid you not) X-Men emulated games from the original Sega Genesis. He was clearly anti-social and he seemed to live in his own little reality. There was a 3 month stretch where I spent every night sleeping in my then girlfriends room and he hadn’t noticed my absence. Here’s to you Felix!

  14. Comments On the other side... Says:

I am a good friend of Felix. I work out with him occasionally. I have known him since freshman year. Despite what is said above maybe true of him, I would also like to add my opinion.

Felix is a very nice guy in general. I could have never imagined this happening to him in a million years. I knew most of the people who posted on this blog because I was also in the same hall. I can see why he may be perceived as anti-social, but I think a better word to describe him would be reserved. He definitely has a lot of friends, because most people I talked to today about him agree with me that media did not portray him fairly. He may not come up to you to introduce himself after class. But it’s not hard to enjoy his company at all if you are assigned to the same team project as he. He is a normal guy who made a wrong decision.

I think most of my mutual friends would also agree with the comments I made above. He is receiving way too much negative press just because he is Asian. Normally, they would only show pictures of the accused if the crime is murder or rape and the suspect is on the run. I feel like Felix has been wronged in this regard. He is a bright guy who has a chance at contributing to society. He made a decision that is not necessarily mature. But I think he has all the mental facilities to understand right and wrong. People should give him another chance.

  15. Comments A Different Side Says:

I worked very closely with Felix last semester on school-work (not stealing anything). I must say: he is the nicest guy. He was always in a great mood, ready to work, and fun to take breaks with. I am so shocked by this incident because he IS such a nice, good guy.

  16. Comments ViolentQuaker Says:

If the panties don’t fit, you must acquit!

  17. Comments @ on the other side Says:

Urm being nice or a meanie doesn’t make someone any less screwed up in the head. Excessive masturbation, playing Sega freeking Genesis all day and breaking into people’s rooms to steal things –regardless of what the items were– is just disturbing. I’m confused as to how that is “normal”.

Felix obviously needs help and hopefully he will get it.
