YTV Attempts to Out-Gay Harvard Crooner
After posting Harvard '09 Peter Shields' -- excuse me, Petros' -- boy band jam "Body Glow," we received tips on Yale Television's latest self-promotional clip, a jazzy little ditty entitled "Watch YTV" where we learn that Asian males continue to be the easiest punchline in entertainment, and someone named Andy Wexler has a micropenis. Also, fat kids like eating brownies and have surprisingly angelic falsetto voices.
UPDATE: It has come to our attention that the above video might not be an actual YTV production, in which case the above singing tele-ddicts are straight-up nutjobs, and YTV should probably hire them, stat. Our attempt to visit YTV's website revealed a massive relaunch project. Maybe this is all a guerrilla marketing scheme to create buzz while we anxiously await the YTV relaunch -- and IvyGate has fallen right into YTV's greedy, ratings-grubbing, anonymous-YouTube-launching hands!! I feel so used. But at least I have a catchy tune to hum.

‘gay’ as pejorative, right in the title… it’s getting hard not to notice the crappy writing these days
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:19 am
YTV had nothing to do with this. Get your facts straight.
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:26 am
maureen’s raging homophobia and poor factchecking aside, I think we’re all missing the point here:
This is a fantastic video.
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:38 am
I like how the first three comments are from embarrassed Yalies trying to stick up for themselves. If you want “great writing!1!” go read a latin blog. If you don’t want to be made fun of, don’t make gay-ass videos (guys, this especially applies to you).
October 23rd, 2007 at 1:46 am
Clearly the video was never meant to be taken this seriously.
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:07 am
umm, sometimes i agree with ivygate… but this video is the shit, i almost died like laughing multiple times… and this song is going to be stuck in my head now, wtf…
October 23rd, 2007 at 2:18 am
this video is incredible, shut your homophobic mouth maureen.
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:24 am
I actually saw some folks performing this in the Calhoun Common Room, where part of it was actually filmed. I think this was a funny version of what will actually appear on YTV.
October 23rd, 2007 at 8:03 am
this is the gayest, most thoroughly super madly homosexual and i repeat, gayest, video i have ever seen.
October 23rd, 2007 at 9:40 am
meg and matt are great!! :)
steven li is awkward and asian as usual.
October 23rd, 2007 at 9:41 am
who is the chick? pretty epod.
the video was pretty funny..
October 23rd, 2007 at 9:46 am
Hilarious! That girl has a great voice. Also, I want to watch YTV. Even if this wasn’t a usual production.

all four of the individuals involved in this production are in OOTB.
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:19 am
this is hilarious… the girl and guy have amazing voices and whoever made it must be so funny.
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:23 am
I have to say this is pretty funny — clearly not meant to be serious, and the singers have good voices too
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:32 am
Nobody would just randomly make a YTV promo. YTV is going under a major relaunch, this is definitely a legit promo.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:45 am
great use of an asian in a funny skit. Hillarious.
October 23rd, 2007 at 3:18 pm
this video did exactly what it was meant to do. it made you laugh, and it made you think of ytv… obvisouly a lot.
it just happened to be a little bonus that we get to laugh at the folks trying to get serious about it…
October 23rd, 2007 at 4:03 pm
Yess…the fact that this was posted made my day.
1) It appears prominently advertised on at least 2 YTV members’ facebook pages
2) The guy that made it is a dipshit and is deleting all the negative youtube comments he receives. Everyone go vote down the positive ones.
3) The people that made this deserve to be ridiculed and are not representative of Yale as a whole
4) Maureen, you were fully justified in calling this video GAY cause thats exactly what it is.
October 23rd, 2007 at 5:09 pm
@yaaaaylie:
1) Of course YTV members will love this! That still doesn’t make it an “official” YTV promo, and it’s never been announced as one. Perhaps YTV was just used as the subject to make a ridiculous movie. The speculation is fun, but drawing conclusions at this point is presumptuous.
2) Have you been following the comments that closely, or did you just have one of your own asshole comments deleted?
3) The “people” who made this probably don’t actually watch YTV that much. If you look at the credits only one person wrote, directed, and filmed everything.
4) OMG LIEK SO GAY. (pah. seriously now?)
October 23rd, 2007 at 5:35 pm
@yaaaaylie
I made this song and video and the only negative comment i received was yours, which i deleted because it was profane.
October 23rd, 2007 at 5:49 pm
@yaaaylie, your facebook profile says that you’re 57. get a life and stop mastubating, i love you kurt!
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:10 pm
omgwtfbbq I went to middle school with that girl.
October 23rd, 2007 at 6:12 pm
Wow. If you don’t understand the humor, or if you just think it’s stupid and find it a waste of time, that’s fine… opinions should be freely expressed…blah blah blah. To yaaaaylie, though:
“The guy that made it is a dipshit and is deleting all the negative youtube comments he receives. The people that made this deserve to be ridiculed.”
1) It’s now obvious that you didn’t know what you were talking about with the youtube comments.
2)Why would you say that the people who made the video deserve to be ridiculed? That’s unbelievable. If this is the kind of person you are when you’re not behind a computer screen, I hope you listen to yourself carefully when you speak. Chances are, no one else is.
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:48 pm
1) The anonymity of the internets often pushes me to make brasher comments than I would in real life. Apparently somebody thinks I’m somebody who’s 57 on facebook…how interesting.
2) When I was talking about ridiculing, I was talking about the bad taste the video was made in, not the effort put therein or the execution. In the latter two, I think you did a good job, Kurt, but not in the former. Nothing unbelievable about ridiculing bad taste. And bad taste is subjective. EMils - try seeing things from another perspective.
3) So maybe if you Kurt visit this page, can you please settle once and for all the question of whether YTV approved/sponsored your video, and if not, why you would make it and what YTV thinks about it?
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:52 pm
Yaaaylie, I think she meant your YouTube profile (assuming you were the same one who posted with similar comments over on YouTube)
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:54 pm

4) There is humor, but it is lame. There is also a very overt attempt to make a themesong that subconsciously sticks in people’s minds and goes YTV..YTV…YTV
October 23rd, 2007 at 10:58 pm
–>nottiffany - yeah…thnx I realize. It was funner to run with that mistake in responding tho.
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:38 pm
dude, yaaaaylie, do i know you? why do you care so much… obviously you’re not meant to take the video seriously, just enjoy it… or not… and ytv asked me to make a promotional video, and i made this…
October 23rd, 2007 at 11:49 pm
this video makes my day kurt! don’t worry about yaaaaylie, he’s probably sexually frustrated.
October 24th, 2007 at 12:09 am
yeah, i meant youtube profile. but the point is that kurt is a genius and yaaaaylie is weird.
October 24th, 2007 at 12:34 am
There are no dipshits in my suite, yaaaaylie. You must be referring to some other person.
October 24th, 2007 at 1:18 am
kurt can win two chess matches simultaneously while blindfolded. there no gay in that.
October 24th, 2007 at 11:04 am
this video is amazing… the people in it are talented and kurt, did you write this song? its hilarious, i laughed so hard… yaaaaylie is crazy
October 24th, 2007 at 12:09 pm
dude, honestly. if it makes you laugh and the song gets stuck in your head, that pretty much equals awesome. ps everyone involved rocks my socks, & yaaaalie’s insane.
October 24th, 2007 at 9:14 pm
fuck yaaaylie, this is one of the best homemade videos i’ve ever seen.
October 24th, 2007 at 11:43 pm
this is hilarious! great voices, too.
October 25th, 2007 at 12:02 am
This song changed my perception of what I thought was emotionally and videotistically possible. This video transcendentally transcends transcendentalism, transcendentistry, and most importantly dentistry. Seriously…meg’s teeth, FUCKEN AWESOME!!!
If you want music that converts you from evangelism to televangelism, where it is the television (and more specifically Yale Television) itself that you are worshipping, listen to the bone-crushing, face-melting, earth-shaking, bowel-shattering, spleen-rupturing, testicular tale of love and heartache that is “Watch Ytv.”
