Not hard to believe. But when that’s the first and only thing you say in a post, it is hard to believe. And it’s a freshman saying this: Is the shine off the apple that quick?

I don’t really see how that follows: I was looking for a rural/suburban campus with an emphasis on undergraduate teaching, a relatively small student body, and a thriving Greek scene. Harvard failed on all four of these points.

I’m merely trying to point out that Harvard is not a great fit for every applicant; the tone of some of the above posts seems to indicate that Harvard students think otherwise. Of course, this may be a generalization or misinterpretation on my part (I love my school very much, so I can see how Harvard students would love their school). Harvard is a school that is great at what it does, but what it does is not great for everyone. I’m just defending Brown ’11’s right to love his school. If you could elaborate a little more on why turning down Harvard for Brown is such a bad choice, then maybe I will reconsider.

This doesn’t really matter though. It’s called the “Harvard Effect”, students go there just because it’s Harvard not because it’s a ‘great fit’. Yale loses out to it, Princeton loses out to it … and Brown most certainly loses out to it.

@agreed:yea dude, I turned down harvard EA (gasp!) Perhaps you can not even picture that because you are too busy putting peanut butter on your arm pits. I was turned off by looking at everyone so depressed and stressed out…
