‘The Gates’: Kinda Off to a Slow Start
Continuing to bring you Ivy news that you can’t get anywhere else, here’s a first look at Columbia’s new soap opera, “The Gates”:
We only got through the first six minutes or so of glacial takes and exposition that would make Tolstoy yawn. Wasn’t there supposed to be violence and girl-on-girl and stuff? It’s probably in parts two and three, after the jump.Pilot, Part II: Pilot, Part III:

It starts out slowly, but it kind of improves in the second and third parts. Kind of.

Good to see that Columbia students don’t let things like multiple fumbled lines and shots with the boom-mic visible deter them from creating cinematic transcendence.

I actually really like it. It’s not like we can really expect much from college equipment/young actors. Somebody told me that they got a virus and lost like half of their good footage. If that’s true, then this isn’t really half bad.

Frat party? Yea Right. I guess they couldn’t get the ’stend or cannons or am caf. to let them shoot the crucial first party scene.
Better be some hot barnyard action. Or at least some wrestlers fighting hobo’s to make this any good.
