Penn Explorers Venture Into Brown Wilderness

Inter-Ivy exchanges are the stuff of anthropology. Students visit other schools as they would a foreign country — cautiously, and with a distrust that usually takes the form of a question: “So what do people do for fun around here?” Because, to be honest, it’s never very clear.

We came across this highly awkward interview conducted recently by a couple of Penn kids traipsing around Brown with a camera. They claim to be part of a “film studies crew” from PennTV, but given the interviewer’s overly ironic self-consciousness and the fuzzy guy dancing around with the boom mic, we consider everything out of their mouths highly suspect. Just observe, and don’t press your face against the glass or you’ll scare them:

    I have no idea if those gents actually work for our godawful TV station, but I do know that if someone tells you they go to “UPenn” rather than “Penn” they’re either: a) a freshman or b) lying.

    Does that kid even go to Brown? Chances are this thing is total bullshit. I go to Brown, and I don’t know who the fuck these kids are? What the fuck!

    He’s (ostensibly) in my history class. The skateboard might need a tune up, though, since it seems to get him there 20 minutes late quite often.

    The crew is a bunch of Brown freshmen. And yes, if someone says they go to UPenn, they usually are lying.

    At least one of these kids is from Penn. The “fuzzy kid” with the mic is in my Pop Cultures in Africa course. He’s a weirdo though so I don’t know about the other kids.

    Yeah I go to Brown in case anyone was wondering. And in my defense, my lateness to history class is not a testament to the skateboard needing a tune-up, but more a testament to me forgetting I have class…

    I’v seen the kid asking questions around Penn as well. I think he is a freshman.

    actually the kid asking questions is a freshman at brown. his name is schuyler maclay.
